Ever caught a glimpse of a conversation, and imagined someones entire life? A decade before doomscrolling and algorithms ruled our lives, Love & Information anticipates how scraps of dialogue and breathless half-moments contain entire worlds. In this ensemble piece, eight actors perform over 100 roles in a genre-defying theatrical experience that explores the extraordinary and everyday moments that make us human.

Picnic on the Battlefield: We are at war, and Monsieur T矇pan and Madame T矇pan visit their son Zapo on the battlefield. Turns out that fighting for your life builds up quite an appetite, and the family has brought a picnic lunch. What could go wrong? By turns comedic, poignant, and shocking, this classic Absurdist piece has it all. Directed by Neema Naderi (DRAM4951 in Directing). 

Alive: a short film

ALIVE: Lee is living alone in the woods when a strange, knowledge-probing Entity appears by his cabin, changing his life forever. Blending intelligence, friendship, technology and loneliness, ALIVE is an experimental short film that explores the modern experience of solitude and connection. Created by Simon Foote (SCRN4951 in Editing) and Emma Neilson (SCRN4951 in Production and Editing).

OBSERVING BLACKBIRDS

Observing Blackbirds is an original, interdisciplinary collaboration between the Drama & Screen Studies Program, the Fine Arts Department, and the Music Departments Elliott Chorale. Taking inspiration from Wallace Stevens poem Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird, as well as Sackvilles enthusiasm for birding and ornithology, this production contemplates the multitudes that arise from intentional observation of the living world.

An ordinary winter's day in small-town Canada takes a strange turn. Townspeople are congregating, chanting, and ripping each other apart are they possessed by some sort of virus? When our very language and words pose the real threat, a talk radio station becomes impossibly dangerous. Dont miss this homage to B-movie gore and the Canadian premiere of the cult horror classic!
