Biography

I am fascinated by microbes and how they interact with our world. Outside the lab, I enjoy being in the woods, foraging and cooking.
My lab focuses on marine microbes, particularly phytoplankton, and combines advanced omics techniques (e.g. subcellular proteomics), cell culturing, and oceanographic field work to explore microbial physiology and biogeochemical roles. 
We embrace a curiosity-driven and frugal science philosophy, prioritizing open-access tools and software to promote accessible research. Our work takes place in the ocean (e.g. onboard research vessels), the laboratory, and on high-performance computers. Learn more at
