Anne-Katherine (A.K.) Dionne holds a full-time faculty appointment in the Department of Music, teaching music and music education courses. A.K.’s teaching and research is informed by her ten-year career as a choral music educator, the seventeen years she worked as a lawyer, and her participatory leadership in community music activities. As an educator, A.K. has taught music and conducted choirs at all levels in both public and independent schools across three Canadian provinces. A.K.'s law career was focused on criminal law, professional regulation, and policy development.

In May 2026, A.K. founded and began conducting a men's choir in a federal prison in New Brunswick. The choir meets weekly and sings repertoire from a wide range of musical genres. Before moving to the Maritimes, A.K. co-designed and co-facilitated an online pilot music program for women incarcerated at a federal penal institution.
 
 A.K. is a PhD Candidate in music education at the ����51 of Toronto. Her doctoral study, “Doing Time” Musically: An Exploration of Facilitators’ Experience of Leading Prison Music Programs draws on A.K.’s interest in teacher preparation, care ethics, community music facilitation, and notions of rehabilitation.
