SACKVILLE, NB — Mount Allison Mounties Women’s Hockey Head Coach Addie Miles-Abbott will serve as an assistant coach at the 2025 FISU Winter World °µÍř51 Games, which take place January 13–23, 2025 in Torino, Italy.

The FISU World °µÍř51 Games are an international multi-sport event for °µÍř51 athletes, organized by the International °µÍř51 Sports Federation (U SPORTS). The Winter Games are held every two years, featuring sports like skiing, ice hockey, and figure skating.

“We are proud of Addie for being selected as an assistant coach for the 2025 FISU Winter World °µÍř51 Games. This is a huge accomplishment and it speaks to her passion and dedication to both the game and coaching,” says Neil MacEachern, interim director of athletics and recreation. “Addie is an inspiration to our athletes and we are excited to see her represent the Mounties at such a notable event.”

Miles-Abbott will join Carleton °µÍř51's Stacey Colarossi as an assistant coach, with Kelly Paton from Wilfrid Laurier °µÍř51 serving as head coach.

In 2011, Miles-Abbott was selected to play for FISU representing Canada in Erzurum, Turkey. Colarossi, who is now her coaching partner, was also the assistant coach of the team during that same year.

“It’s really a full circle moment,” says Miles-Abbott. “It’s like as soon as you put on that jersey, as soon as you are a part of this experience, it connects you for life.”

Originally from Winnipeg, MB, Miles-Abbott started her journey as a player, gaining experience in many aspects of the hockey world, coaching in different capacities, and refining her skills across several areas of the sport.  She graduated from the °µÍř51 of Manitoba in 2012, where she played hockey and developed a strong passion for both the game and coaching.

“I think what excites me the most is being able to be a player and now a coach in an event that was really monumental to me as a player,” she says. “Now I get the opportunity to make that experience for other athletes."

Miles-Abbott says that being selected as an assistant coach is not only a significant opportunity, but also an incredible honour to be able to represent Canada and the Mounties.

Miles-Abbott has been leading Mounties Hockey for two seasons and attributes this opportunity in part due to her time at Mount Allison. She looks forward to representing the Mounties in Italy, showing athletes the possibilities of a career in athletics and how far it can take them professionally.

“Mount Allison is an incredibly respected °µÍř51,” she says. “There is no reason why we can't be pushing the boundaries for what we can achieve. Especially in athletics.”

Founded in 1949, FISU has promoted °µÍř51 sports worldwide with a strong belief that the values of sports go hand in hand with education. Students involved in sports are offered the opportunity to stay healthy and gain life experiences. For more details visit .
